How to vote in New York!

Step 1. Are you eligible to vote?

Can you answer YES to the following?

If so, you are eligible to vote in New York!
  • I’m a US Citizen
  • I’ll be at least 18 years old at the election
  • I will have been a resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election
  • I do NOT claim the right to vote elsewhere
  • I’m NOT in prison or on parole for a felony conviction (or my rights have been restored)
  • I have NOT been adjudged mentally incompetent by a court
Step 2. Check your voter registration ONLINE! (Click here.)

Step 3. If you need to, register or fix your registration ONLINE! (Click here.)

Step 4. Check with your state election office for your voting options: Can you request a Mail-in Ballot (a.k.a. Absentee Ballot)? When and where can you Vote Early (in person, but before Election Day)? (Click here.)

Step 5. Depending on your voting options: If you receive a Mail-in Ballot, complete and return. OR vote in person (before Election Day, if possible).
