How to vote in Illinois!

Step 1. Are you eligible to vote?

Can you answer YES to the following?

If so, you are eligible to vote in Illinois!
  • I'm a US citizen
  • I'll be at least 18 years old on the date of the General or Consolidated Election
  • I have lived in my election precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day
  • I do NOT claim the right to vote anywhere else
  • I'm NOT serving a sentence of confinement in any penal institution as a result of a conviction

Step 3. If you need to, register or fix your registration ONLINE! (Click here.)

Step 4. Request a Mail-in Ballot (a.k.a. Absentee Ballot). (Click here.)

OR, if you prefer to vote in person, ask when and where you can Vote Early (before Election Day). This will help you avoid crowds.

Step 5. If you requested a Mail-in Ballot: When it arrives, read the instructions carefully. Complete and return!
